Ginger displays anti inflammatory properties and can be used to treat rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, and various other muscular disorders.
The chemical components of the root are instrumental in inhibiting the biosynthesis of prostaglandins which are responsible for causing inflammation.
Thus the root has proven to be a highly effective form of treatment, in some cases, even more so than the NSAID's that are traditionally prescribed.

DIABETES/SUGAR CARE
Note: This is a mail which I have received from a friend for the following remedy. Nothing like trying, as it is not harmful.
(Please note that another name for Lady Finger (Bhindi ) is ' OKRA ')
Last month in one of TV program I learn of a treatment of Sugar (Diabetes). Since I am diabetic, I tried it and it was very useful and my Sugar is in control now. In fact I have already reduced my medicine. Take two pieces of Lady Finger (Bhindi) and remove/cut both ends of each piece. Also put a small cut in the middle and put these two pieces in glass of water. Cover the glass and keep it at room temperature during night. Early morning, before breakfast simply remove two pieces of lady
finger (bhindi) from the glass and drink that water. Keep doing it on daily basis. Within two weeks, you will see remarkable results in reduction of your SUGAR.
My sister has got rid of her diabetes. She was on Insulin for a few years, but after taking the lady fingers every morning for a few months, she has stopped Insulin but continues to take the lady fingers every day. But she chops the lady fingers into fine pieces in the night, adds the water and drinks it all up the next morning. Please try it as it will not do you any harm even if it does not do much good to you, but U
have to keep taking it for a few months before U see results, as most
cases might be chronic.

Bhagavad Gita is being taught in one sixty eight (168) universities in USA.
When we have such wonderful divine philosophy in our own land, it will be foolish to ignore it.

"Accept Gita or quit India”, says Karnataka education minister
TNN | Jul 21, 2011, 02.18am IST
BANGALORE: Karnataka primary and secondary education minister Vishweshwara Hegde Kageri is sticking to his guns on his controversial remark over the introduction of the Bhagwad Gita in schools. "This country believes in the Gita. Those who oppose it and believe in philosophies that are not of this country can go there and propagate them," he told TOI on Tuesday. At a function of the Gita Abhiyan last week in Kolar, the minister had come down heavily on those who opposed the introduction of the sacred text, which he said is aimed at inculcating ethical values among children. "Those who are opposing it are pampered by Western culture. Such people are welcome to leave our country and can go elsewhere," he had said. Asked why the government is interested in introducing the Gita in schools, the minister said: "It's not a government programme. It wasn't initiated by our government. In 2007, the Gita was introduced by the Sondha Swarnavalli Mutt of Uttara Kannada district in all districts of the state. We are not financing it, we are just encouraging it," he said. Asked what he would do if other communities also come up with similar demands, he said: "We will encourage any good work." "The Bhagwad Gita is accepted as one of the greatest epics of all times. No light can challenge sunlight, no other religious epic can compete with the Bhagwad Gita. Ethical values preached in the Gita have been accepted by many foreign countries, so there's no fun discussing the merits and demerits of the Gita," he said. Pointing out that Gita Abhiyan has been successfully conducted in jails to help inmates; he questioned why those who are opposing the programme now didn't raise their voice when the Abhiyan was taken up in jails."
Many western scientists are following it. When Oppenheimer saw the 1st atomic explosion at white sands, a Shloka from Gita came to his mind. If the pseudo secularists come along they are welcome.
Otherwise we have to proceed forward without them.

Phool Kushboo Se Pooche Hum Aapke Hai Kaun
Dil Dhadkan Se Pooche Hum Aapke Hai Kaun
Hum To Hai Nadaan
Aap Hi Bataye Hum Aapke Hai Kaun !!
Zindagi Mein Aapki Ahmiyat Bata Nahi Sakte
Dil Mein Aapki Jagah Dikha Nahi Sakte

Some thoughts
Why people are NOT HAPPY because They are busy searching WHY Others are HAPPY.
One thing I learn in life is that Most people don’t look for the truths of life;
They only search for someone to agree with them.
Everybody seems to be special at first sight but only very few will remains special till last sight.
Our background and circumstances may have influenced who we are. We are responsible for who we Become.
Love is second mistake created by GOD.Of course Girls are first mistakes
but the fact is that both are so beautiful!!
Two places are most valuable in the World:
The Nicest place is to be in someone's THOUGHTS and
the safest place is to be in someone's PRAYERS.
Life has no pause buttons,Dreams have no expiry date,Time has no holiday,so don’t waste a single moment in your life.
Live it!!
Love it!!
Rock it!!

This country does not need thinkers any more.
WHY?
WHY?
It’s not about me, it’s not about you. It’s about the place we stay in, the society we live in, the systems we have.
I often wonder when a mosquito bites us why do I think of a repellent, why a coil or HIT why don’t I have the courage to question my municipality?
Why do I buy water in a bottle? Why do I purify water at my Home? Does the water bill say that the tap water is only for washing clothes or having a
bath? Why don’t I get drinking water in my tap?
Why should I pay a toll tax on every single black, nice looking road? Why a basic road is not my right?
Why do I buy an inverter or dream of a generator? Why don’t I get current in my wires?
Why do we call the private schools as public schools? I always thought schools run by the government should be called public schools!
Why- the cricketer who sold the ethics of game sits in parliaments or come as experts on channels?
Why someone known for beating his wife and had charges of holding drugs is a celebrity to judge dance shows and all of us watch and clap too?
Why is it that the so called high profile tainted journalists still run public shows and we all watch it?
Why don’t I know the fine on jumping red light or for not wearing a helmet but am very well aware of power of 100 rupees, the cost of duty of most of
the traffic guys across the country.
Why is a girl raped in a roaming car in the capital of the country almost every month and all that the government says is that girls should be careful.
Why the trial and judgment of social activists does just takes a few weeks but Raja, Raju, Reddy roams around!!
Why even after killing hundreds* of people on road the blue line buses remained on roads? Do you know any city apart from the capital of your
country where the city buses crushed people on a daily basis?
Why didn’t we come on the roads when someone made elephants of stones for thousands of crores rupees in U.P. where people still dig pits to sleep or
die of hunger?
Why a tainted, corrupt minister is called to IIM and Academy for IAS and applauded “unstopped on his desi style?
It’s so easy to call someone corrupt but have you ever thought; the act of bribe starts by giving not by taking. It starts from me not from him or her. So why don’t I look at myself first?
I strongly believe that the Logic is always for NOT doing something. Doing does not need logic, doers don’t believe in logics!
Just a couple of years back, some people came and played with us, killed our pride and people. We were angry. Some people thought that the attack in Mumbai was on rich people & therefore something would change.
Nothing happened. We all go to gateway of India on every anniversary in November, burn some wax, sing some songs and come back. Nothing changes- the government is back, Z security is back and people are back at the Gateway of India.
It is time to come out, stand up & move. Do something. Sitting in drawing rooms or discussing over a mug of beer will not solve anything.
Please remember this country does not need thinkers any more, enough of them. What you need is action.
ACT NOW.
PASS IT ON TO ALL OUR COUNTRYMEN.

INTELLECTUAL MANTRA
While I was in a Restaurant, suddenly a cockroach flew from somewhere and sat on a lady standing a little away from me.
She started screaming out of fear. With panic stricken face and trembling voice, she started jumping, with both her hands desperately trying to get rid of the cockroach. Her reaction was contagious, as everyone in her group got cranky to what was happening. The lady finally managed to push the cockroach to another lady in the group.
Now, it was the turn of the other lady in the group to continue the drama. The waiter rushed forward to their rescue.
In the relay of throwing, the cockroach next fell upon the waiter.
The waiter stood firm, composed himself and observed the behavior of the cockroach on his shirt.
When he was confident enough, he grabbed and threw it out with his fingers.
Sipping my coffee and watching the amusement, my mind picked up a few thoughts and started wondering:
- Was the cockroach responsible for the ladies' histrionic behavior?
- If so, then why was the waiter not disturbed? He handled it near to perfection - without any chaos or drama.
- So, it was not the cockroach, but the inability of the ladies to handle the disturbance caused by the cockroach that disturbed them.
I also realized even in my case then, it is not the shouting of my father or scolding of my boss that disturbs me, but it's my own inability to handle the disturbances caused by their shouting that disturb me.
Similarly, it's not the traffic jams on the road that disturbs me, but my inability to handle the disturbance caused in my mind by the traffic jam that disturbs me.
More than the problem, it's my own reaction to the problem that hurts me!
The Take-Away:
- The women reacted but the waiter responded.
- We must not react in life; we should always respond.
- Reactions are instinctive; responses are intellectual.

Your Sinuses Explained
Your Sinuses Explained
Your sinuses -- air-filled pockets found within your cheeks, behind your forehead and eyebrows, on either side of the bridge of your nose, and behind your nose -- can get clogged easily. Healthy sinuses are lined with a thin layer of mucus that traps dust, germs, and other particles in the air. Ideally, tiny hair-like cilia sweep mucus and anything trapped in it out of the sinuses, down the back of your throat and into the stomach.
What Causes Sinus Problems?
Sinus pain and pressure occurs when the tissue in your nose becomes swollen and inflamed, preventing the sinuses from draining properly. Change in temperature, allergies, smoking, the common cold -- pretty much anything that causes swelling in your sinuses or keeps the cilia from sweeping away mucus -- can cause sinus problems.
Avoid Nasal Allergens
Nasal allergies can set the stage for sinus problems by causing the mucous membranes of your nose to swell and block your sinuses. The result? Pain and pressure in your sinus cavity. Avoiding common nasal allergy triggers such as pet dander, dust mites, and pollen can go a long way toward preventing sinus problems. Seek treatment for your allergies.
Medicines to Relieve Sinus Pressure
Some over-the-counter drugs can help alleviate your sinus problems. Decongestant sprays and pills may reduce the swelling in your nasal passages. But using a nasal spray for more than 3 days can cause rebound congestion, making sinus problems worse. If allergies are causing your sinus pain, antihistamines and other allergy medicines can help relieve symptoms. Pain relievers may also be effective.
Breathe Moist Air
Keep humidifiers running in your bedroom or other rooms where you spend a lot of time. Dry air can irritate your sinuses, but keeping air moist can help reduce congestion. Inhaling steam two to four times a day may help, too. Sit in the bathroom with the door closed and the shower running. Make sure the water is hot.
Enforce a No Smoking Zone
Fumes from harsh cleaning products, paints, hair spray, perfumes -- and most of all, cigarette smoking -- can irritate your sinuses. Don't let friends or family smoke in your home. Look for "green" cleaning products that are available in unscented varieties and are less likely to contain the harsh chemicals that can kick-start a sinus problem.
Drink More Water
If you have sinus problems, drink up! Consuming more water or juice will help thin out mucus and encourage drainage. Hot tea can also help -- as long as it is decaf. Beverages that contain caffeine or alcohol can be dehydrating. Alcohol can actually worsen sinus swelling. Aim for eight or more 8-ounce glasses of water or other non-alcoholic, non-caffeinated beverages each day.
Try Nasal Irrigation
Nasal irrigation -- also called nasal wash -- can help keep your sinuses clean and clear. It involves using a mild saline solution to flush out the thickened mucus and allergens causing your sinus congestion. Lean over the sink, squirt the solution into one nostril and let it drain through your nasal cavity and out the other nostril. Keep your mouth open and don't breathe through your nose.
Nasal Irrigation: What You Need
Rinse bottles, bulb syringes, and neti pots are available at most drugstores. You can buy a prefilled container or make your own saline solution. To make your own solution, mix about 16 ounces (1 pint) of lukewarm water with 1 teaspoon of salt. Some people add ½ teaspoon of baking soda to take the sting out of the salt.

Tibetan Monks Can Raise the Temperature of Their Skin through Meditation
Today I found out that some Tibetan monks can control the temperature of their skin through meditation. Specifically, they have been shown to be able to raise their skin temperature, measured from their toes and fingers, as much as 17 degrees Fahrenheit, while their core temperature stays normal.
Scientists from Harvard University, lead by Herbert Benson, were first able to study these monks thanks to the Dalai Lama, who visited Harvard in 1979, and agreed to help them contact and convince the monks to allow them to be studied.
What followed was a series of visits to remote monasteries in the Himalayan Mountains throughout the 1980s.
Not only did they discover the monks could raise their surface temperature while keeping their core temperature normal, but they also found a group in Sikkim, India that could lower their metabolism by 64 percent. For perspective on how remarkable this is, when you sleep your metabolism drops only 10-15 percent.
The scientists also got a chance to document the monks spending a night out on a rocky ledge in the Himalayas. The monks were dressed in their simple wool robes with no extra insulation and slept on the cold rocks separated from one another.
The altitude was 15,000 feet and the temperatures reached zero degrees Fahrenheit as they slept, apparently comfortably, through the night. With as little insulation as they were wearing and laying on the cold rock separated from one another, this should have killed the monks. But they were all fine and the cameras didn’t even catch them shivering at any point. When they woke, they walked calmly back to their monastery, not seeming to notice the cold at all, unlike the scientists and camera crew who were all bundled up and freezing by morning.
It is not yet known how the monks manage to generate the heat, but magnetic resonance imaging scans of the monks brains while they meditate have shown “marked differences in blood flow to the entire brain”, Benson explains. “At the same time, certain areas of the brain became more active, specifically those that control attention and autonomic functions like blood pressure and metabolism.”
The ability to sustain themselves in extreme low temperature and low oxygen environments by raising their skin temperature and lowering their metabolism drastically would be particularly useful for NASA in missions such as travelling to Mars. If their astronauts could do this, it would drastically decrease the amount of oxygen and energy needed in such a voyage. Queue Space Monks
